DESCRIPTION
MID-LENGTH S TO 5XL

Longline Hooded Puffer Vest

A sleeveless padded vest cut long enough to cover the hip and upper thigh. Twelve colours, eight sizes, built to layer over a knit without adding bulk at the arms.

Sizing note: every number in the chart below is the vest measured around the body, not your own measurement. Leave 8 to 10 cm of room if you plan to wear a jumper underneath.

Why the length matters

A vest that stops at the waist leaves the coldest part of your back uncovered.

A hip-length vest

Ends at the waist, so the lower back and seat stay exposed

Bunches up when you wear it over a long sweater

Reads as a sports gilet rather than outerwear

You end up carrying a second layer for the bottom half

This longline vest

83 to 90 cm from the shoulder, reaching mid-thigh

Sits flat over a knit or a dress without riding up

Side slits let you walk and sit without the hem pulling

Reads as a coat, so it works for the office

What you are getting

Six things that separate this from a plain padded gilet.

🧥

Long enough to matter

83 to 90 cm from the shoulder seam covers the hip and upper thigh, which is exactly where a short vest leaves you cold.

🧵

Even quilting

Horizontal channels hold the padding in place, so the front stays puffed instead of flattening after a few wears.

🧢

Attached hood

Sewn on rather than removable. Nothing to lose, and it sits flat under a coat hood when you need both.

✂️

Side slits at the hem

Cut a few centimetres up each side so the hem opens when you walk, take stairs or sit down in a car.

👝

Two hip pockets

Angled slightly back at hip height, deep enough for a phone and a hand.

📏

S to XXXXXL

Eight sizes and twelve colours in one listing. Most vests in this shape stop at XXL.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

How to pick your size

1

Measure your chest

Run a tape around the fullest part of the chest and keep it level. The chart below is the vest measured around the body, not your own measurement.

2

Leave 8 to 10 cm of room

This is a layering piece. A 100 cm chest fits the 106 cm size over a thin knit, or the 112 cm size over a heavy sweater.

3

Check the length on a coat

83 cm on the smallest size, 90 cm on the largest, measured from the shoulder seam. Compare it against a coat you already like the length of.

4

The large sizes are cut, not scaled

XXXXL and XXXXXL measure 130 and 136 cm around the body, so a fuller figure does not have to size into a men's cut.

Three ways it gets worn

Sleeveless is the point, not a compromise.

🧶

Over a knit

Worn open over a jumper it adds warmth at the chest and back without bulk at the arms.

👔

For the office

Zipped over a shirt or a fine knit. The longline shape and the clean front keep it from reading as sportswear.

👗

In between seasons

Over a dress or a long-sleeve top in spring and autumn, when a full coat is too much and a cardigan is not enough.

Where the shape comes from

Three details keep this from looking like a padded tube. The horizontal quilting runs in even channels so the padding stays where it was put. The side slits open the hem by a few centimetres, which is what stops it pulling tight across the hips when you walk. And the hood is attached rather than detachable, so the line from shoulder to neck stays unbroken. The zip runs the full front and the pockets sit at hip height, angled slightly back so your hand falls into them.

Questions people ask

I usually wear a medium. Should I order a medium?

Only if your chest measures around 100 cm. The chart shows the vest measured around the body, so choose the size that leaves 8 to 10 cm over your own chest measurement, especially if you plan to wear a sweater underneath.

How long is it, exactly?

83 cm on the S and 90 cm on the XXXXXL, measured from the shoulder seam to the hem. On most women that lands at mid-thigh. The quickest check is to measure a coat you already own from the shoulder seam down and compare.

Will it fit over a thick sweater?

Yes, if you size for it. A 100 cm chest in a heavy knit needs the 112 cm size rather than the 106. The armholes are cut wide because there are no sleeves to restrict them, so a knit slides through without catching.

Does it look bulky?

The quilting is horizontal and fairly shallow, and the cut is straight rather than fitted, so it adds warmth without a rounded silhouette. The side slits keep the hem from gripping the hips, which is what usually makes a long padded piece look heavy.

How should I wash it?

Check the sewn-in label first, since the fill and shell vary between colours. Padded vests of this type are normally machine washed cold on a gentle cycle and dried flat or on low, never on high heat, which is what makes the padding clump.

What buyers say

★★★★★

I am 5'7" and the large reaches mid-thigh on me. Wore it over a chunky knit all last winter and never felt restricted at the arms.

Margaret H. · Verified Buyer

★★★★★

Ordered the khaki in XXL. The colour is a true sand, not orange like some of the cheaper ones. The side slits make a real difference getting in and out of a car.

Denise R. · Verified Buyer

★★★★★

Bought the black for work. Zipped up over a shirt it looks like a proper coat, which is what I wanted. The hood is attached, so nothing to lose.

Carol T. · Verified Buyer

★★★★★

Sizing runs generous, which I appreciated. I measured my chest as instructed and the 4XL was right the first time, no exchange needed.

Anne-Marie L. · Verified Buyer

Pick your size, then your colour

Eight sizes, twelve colours. Measure your chest first and leave room for a knit.
